If something looks wrong
I cannot see the strip
- Check it is actually on. Right-click the chart > Indicators List. If Tempo is not there, it is not on.
- Check the chart is not too narrow or too short. The strip needs about 110 pixels at the top and at least 320 of width. Below that it draws nothing, on purpose: an unreadable smear is worse than a gap.
The strip is there but items are missing
That is normal on a narrow chart. Tempo drops items in order, least important first, rather than cutting them in half. Widen the window and they come back. The order is in The strip.
I can see candles through the strip
The strip is nearly opaque, but not completely, on purpose: candles that reach the top show faintly behind it. If on your chart they show on top of the strip, you have Chart on foreground switched on in the chart's properties (F8
Common). Tempo does not change that setting for you; if you switch it off,
the strip sits in front.
No economic releases show up
Almost always the terminal, not Tempo:
1. Open View > Calendar. If it is empty there too, your terminal's calendar is empty or switched off by the broker. 2. If you have just installed MetaTrader, give it a few minutes: the calendar fills in the first time. 3. Remember that only medium and high impact releases get in. Low-impact ones are not drawn.
Tempo does not go blank: it writes what is happening on the text row. If it says the calendar did not answer, it is the terminal that is not responding, and Tempo will try again without you doing anything. If it says there is no major data ahead, then there really is none.
It says "market closed" but my broker is quoting
Tempo runs on market time, not your broker's: it closes on Friday at 17:00 New York and opens on Sunday at 17:00. Some brokers open an hour later, and some quote certain instruments outside those hours. That is the difference, and it is deliberate — see Sessions.
The bands look shifted by an hour
Look at the second text row: it says which offset it is drawing with ("Server GMT+3 · US DST on · EU DST on"). Compare it with your broker's time. If it matches, the bands are right.
If the strip is also warning that London and New York are not in step, you are in one of the three or four weeks a year when Europe and the United States have not changed their clocks on the same day. The bands are right; it is the calendar that is odd, not the drawing. See Time.
It says "Server time offset unknown"
That happens in the Strategy Tester when there is not enough history to measure the server's offset. Tempo would rather say so than draw the sessions in a made-up place. Extend the test period further back.
Alerts do not reach my phone
Check that your MetaQuotes ID is set in Tools > Options > Notifications and that the Test button in that window gets the message through. If it is not set, Tempo writes so once in the Experts journal. See Alerts.
The high and low lines do not show
They are worked out from one-minute candles. If you have just opened the symbol, the terminal may still be downloading them: they appear on their own when they arrive. Also check InpNivSesiones and InpNivDia.
The shading does not reach the right edge
That is the margin MetaTrader leaves after the last candle. Remove it in Chart properties > Show > Chart shift. See The range and the shading.
The killzones start before the session opens
That is correct and deliberate. Both start an hour before their session, because the move that sets up the open happens before the open. See Sessions.
The colour I set is not applied
Check you have not left it on None. That value means "use the palette's", and it is the only thing MetaTrader's picker offers as empty.
It feels slow
It should not. The strip is repainted once a second and it is small: about 3 milliseconds per second on a 1,600-pixel chart, measured. The shading over the candles is only repainted when the chart moves or a new candle arrives. If you notice anything, try switching InpVerSombreado off; if that changes nothing, the weight is coming from somewhere else.
Still not working
Write to hola@stancel.net telling us which broker you use, which version of Tempo the end of the second text row shows, and a screenshot of the chart. That solves almost everything first time.
